Project Outreach

Mission

The purpose of our project outreach team is to build partnerships with communities during the design, renovation and rebuilding of schools. We also provide information on school closings and student placement. We are here to inform the community of all the benefits that will become available to them upon completion of our projects. Our team accomplishes this by having open communications between the Philadelphia School Improvement Team, the Principal, Teachers, Parents, Students, and the community at large. We act as the liaison between the School District of Philadelphia’s Office of Capital Programs and the Community.

The Project Outreach Unit along with the school Principal establishes the School Planning Team (SPT). The SPT consists of the Principal, Regional Superintendent, Building Engineer/Facility Area Coordinator, Building Representative, Parent/Home and School Representative, Faith Based Leader, Local Resident or Community Organization, Elected Officials, PFT Representative and Youth Representative. These members are eligible based on their relationship with the school and the surrounding community.

The role of the SPT is to completely understand the project and act as spokespersons to the community at large. They are to keep the community informed of the progress throughout the project. Along with keeping the Community informed, these members provide insight on thoughts and feedback of the community regarding the project. They also have the authority to sign-off for the project scope of work. There are several scheduled meetings throughout this process and it is imperative that members attend all of their respective school planning meetings.
